Peter Garrett (Chant), Jim Moginie (Guitare) & Martin Rotsey (Guitare) et Rob Hirst ont été les membres fondateurs & permanents du groupe rock australien : Midnight Oil. Le charisme du chanteur (l'est pas devenu politicien pour rien l'ch'tiot pépère...), la qualité des compos, aussi inattendues que variées, parfois brutales et radicales avec des envolées quasiment mystiques, l'engagement écologiste (notamment contre le nucléaire) et leur prise de position en faveur des aborigènes d'Australie font de Midnight Oil un groupe incontournable de l'histoire du rock...
Midnight Oil ont à leur actif une douzaine d'albums "officiels". Pour celles & ceux qui sont curieux de découvrir leur musique, c'est leur fameux album "countdown" qui est ici proposé. Cinquième LP du groupe, 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 est sorti en 1982. Il ne se laisse pas découvrir facilement mais si l'alchimie se produit entre vous et cet opus, alors vous risquez fort d'être pris dans la spirale qui mène à la boucle...
